Pre-purchase Surveys
This is our most common type of survey. In this survey we will perform an external visual inspection on the main engines, transmissions, and generator(s). At this time we will also connect to the Engine Control Modules and download histories and status reports when applicable. Afterwards, an extensive sea trial will be performed and data will be collected for analyzation. Oil samples will be drawn from all power systems and sent out for analysis. A report will be given the next day.
Survey Type I
In addition to everything from a Type I survey, this survey would include a borescope of all cylinder liners and valves as well as a compression test when applicable. This more in depth survey is usually performed if the initial inspection and/or sea trial gives reason to believe that this internal inspection is beneficial.
